Quato exhibits at Photokina 2010 (September, 21st – 26th, 2010) in Cologne

Quato will showcase colormanagement solutions and softproofing displays at Photokina 2010 in Hall 4.1, Booth A08 and C08 in cooperation with the ADF. At the 700 square meter ADF booth, visitors will have the chance to see Quato and partners live in action on different photographic workflow setups from image capture over editing to print and will have the chance for a hands-on experience. Additionally, an official Guinness Book World Record trial for the largest matrix ring world wide will be part of the showcase in booth C08. Stage presentations and the chance to be photographed in the matrix ring and printed in the workflow area at booth A08 will also be part of the daily programme.

Quato´s highlight during the show will be the new Intelli Proof 242 excellence and the new version of Quato´s iColor Print suite, including many new and enhanced features. Additionally, Quato´s new and outstanding large format displays for photographers and press-room softproofing will make their debut at Photokina.

The full line of Quato displays will also be showcased at partners like Leica, Sinar, Globell, GTI and Tecco – to name a few.

Braunschweig, August 2010
Quato presents new high end 24” display for softproof, photography and design

The new Intelli Proof 242ex is Quato´s most advanced CCFL-based unit so far. It shares the core technology with the acclaimed Intelli Proof 240 excellence LED but relies on the proven WCG-CCFL technology. A gamut volume of 102% allows to reproduce 98% of Adobe-RGB and Isocoated v2 within the specifications for contract proof according to ISO 12647-7.

The necessary precision for exact color correction and editing is granted by the individual 16bit 3D USB hardware calibration and the advanced iColor Display calibration software. iColor Display´s features include a sophisticated whitepoint editor, an enhanced gamut viewer and the versatile spot color tool to check the color behaviour within and between different applications. The overall calibration precision can be certified at any time by using the UGRA Display Analysis and Certification Tool (UDACT) within iColor Display.

The used 10bit H-IPS panels shows billions of shades and apart from DVI-D and DVI-I, a 10bit DisplayPort connection is also supported. It can unleash the full potential of the 10bit display if Windows and Mac OS X supply 10bit data over DisplayPort. Thanks to the Faroudja DCDi video processing features and HDCP compatibility, the Intelli Proof 242 excellence is also suited for editing and watching video. The ADC (area dimming control) circuit makes sure that the display´s uniformity reaches a very high level and fully complies with the requirements of the FograCert Softproofing programme. Additionally, the new base with 14cm height adjustment allows an ergonomic setup with both, height/portrait and tilt/swivel adjustments.

The Intelli Proof 242 excellence is immediately available via Quato authorized partners world wide. Software and hood are included, a sensor is optional. The warranty includes 36 months warranty a very tight pixel failure policy that exceeds the requirements of ISO 13406-2 by far.

Quato and Dalim receive FograCert Softproof Certification

At today´s color work, there is more and more demand for highly accurate softproofing because the simulation of proofs and prints more and more replaces simple contract and in-position proofs. The smooth cooperation of all devices and technologies is crucial for a highly precise simulation of printing results. Because of that, the Fogra (www.fogra.org) has developed the FograCert Softproofing Programme. This certification programme evaluates and certifies complete systems containing a pre-certified display, a pre-certified viewing booth and a softproofing software. As soon as Quato was awarded a Class-A pre-certification status (Fogra PreCert) for the Intelli Proof 240/262 excellence and Intelli Proof 240 excellence LED, Dalim (www.dalim.de) has submitted complete systems (Dalim Dialogue ES, Quato IP 240/262ex, Just Viewing Booth) and received the FograCert Softproof Certification for the printing condition Fogra39 (ISOcoatedv2). More info can be found here.

This – once again – shows Quato´s deep commitment to improve the softproofing approach for prepress, design and even photography.

Quato introduces HighBrightness Displays for On-Press Softproofing

The Proof View Series was developed for the Softproof and color control directly on the press, the control stand and in stationary viewing booths. In the past, the display´s luminance defined the brightness level on the stationary viewing booth. This results in a luminance much lower than the ISO 3664 requirement for condition P1. Thus, the viewing booth needs to be dimmed and this limits the perception of finest details and tonal response. With the new Proof View 700, the Softproof and the Hardcopy print can be viewed for the first time at the ISO 3664 compliant luminance level. The Proof View 700 covers most of the printing standards with at least 90% coverage. The 700cd/m2 IPS-Pro panel offers an extra wide viewing angle without visible color deviations. Thanks to the integrated UDACT routines, the user can always certify the calibration results just in minutes to make sure that the whole system works perfectly.

The Proof View 700 will be available from the end of Quarter 1/2010 on.

Proof View 700 specs:
  • IPS-Pro Panel with direct HighPower CCFL-Backlight
  • 21.3”/54cm size, 1.600x1.200 pixel, 10bit color/grays
  • Hardware calibration with 12bit LUT
  • 72% NTSC (90% ISOcoated v2, 100% ISOnewspaper26v4)
  • 36bit (3x12bit) calibration precision
  • 700cd/m2 luminance (max.), contrast 1000:1
  • iColor Display calibration software incl. UDACT
  • Silver Haze Pro Colorimeter and hood included

About Quato
For more than 20 years, Quato has been a professional provider of products for photography, design and prepress. The requirements of professional solutions have changed a lot since Quato introduced the first mass production hardware-calibrated CRT more than ten years ago. Although the monitor is the center piece of a color management workflow, it must be surrounded by additional hard- and software to build a versatile input and output system. Focused on that maxim, Quato has become a leading manufacturers and supplier for calibrated displays, softproof and colormanagement solutions.
