FAQ / TROUBLESHOOTING
If you have any question concerning your QUATOGRAPHIC product, you are not likely the first one asking. You will find a compilation of the most frequently given troubleshooting problems – and, of course, the corresponding answers and hints – in this section. Please check whether your problem can be solved by some piece of information given in this passage before you address an inquiry to our technical support team. Thank you!

The screen is dark, and the LCD on the front panel is not lighting up...
Make sure that the power cable, both on the monitor and in the socket, is connected properly. If the power supply for the monitor is xxx via the computer, please make sure that the computer is turned on. Make sure that your wall socket is supplied with power, e.g. by plugging in a table lamp. Before trying again, turn off the monitor for approx. 1 minute.

The screen is dark and the LCD on the front panel has lit up...
Perhaps the monitor is on stand-by mode. Press any key on your keyboard. If it fails to do anything, make sure the keyboard has been properly connected to the computer. Furthermore, check that the video cable is connected correctly. Choose a video signal that can be read by your monitor. Before starting again, turn off your monitor for approx. 1 minute.

The screen is dark: For the professional user...
Turn off both the monitor and the computer. Disconnect the signal cable and computer. Switch on the monitor again. If you see a grey background pattern the monitor is most likely in order, and the fault is to be found elsewhere in the system. Check the connection pins of the video cable and if they are slightly bent, try to straighten them using pointed pliers.

There are color purity problems with the picture...
Degauss your monitor. If the color purity problems persist although you have not adjusted the monitor in the meantime, the equipment is probably exposed to a strong interference field (e.g. near a high-power cable). If this is the case, try to find a more suitable location either for your screen or for the source of disturbance. Please note that the image interference could also be caused by another monitor that is placed too close (less than 30 cm) to the one in question.
Color purity problems can also be caused by a faulty connection of monitor and graphic board. Check the connection pins of the video cable and if they are slightly bent, try to straighten them using pointed pliers.

The image is not readable...
Turn off the monitor and computer for approx. 1 minute. If the display is still not readable after having restarted the computer, your computer is most likely adjusted to a video mode that is beyond the synchronization range of the monitor.

The image is black-and-white...
Ensure that the signal cable terminal is properly attached. Turn off your computer and restart it.

The image is out of sync / not stable...
This problem is most frequently caused by an incorrect connection of graphic board and monitor. Check the connection pins of the video cable and if they are slightly bent, try to straighten them using pointed pliers.
It is also possible that the set video signal cannot be interpreted clearly by the monitor. To correct this, check the settings on your graphics board.
Moreover, the problem might be caused by an external source. Therefore, degauss your monitor. If it is still not working as intended, see if you can identify any source of disturbance (e.g. a high-power cable). If this is the case try to find a more suitable location, either for your screen or for the source of disturbance. Please note that the interference could also be caused by another monitor, which is placed too close (less than 30 cm) to the one in question.

Light vertical black lines appear on your screen...
Probably the aperture grille has not been properly aligned due to shock or vibration during transport. As a result, one or more black lines appear on the screen. The problem may be resolved by degaussing or gently tapping (not hitting!) on the side of the monitor. If the problem persists, please try the following:
Place a light white field above the areas affected and put a black field across the remaining part of the screen. To do this, you need to open a light white window above a black desktop or pattern in the background, and position it exactly so that the faulty display element is completely covered. Set brightness and contrast to maximum. The white field will heat the affected part of the grill and align it correctly. Now tap gently on the side of the monitor to speed up the procedure.

Two horizontal lines appear on the screen...
This does not mean a defect with stripe or shadow mask screens (Trinitron, DiamonTron). These thin lines that have become visible are stabilisation wires, which support the aperture grille of the monitor.

The power-save mode does not function...
Probably power-save mode has not been installed or activated on your monitor. Read the User´s Manual for your computer to learn how to operate this mode, or contact a specialist. The program has to be set correctly so that the monitor can receive a signal that corresponds to a blank image. Visible movements in the picture (e.g. by using a screen saver) can hinder the transition to stand-by mode. If sync on green is required, the power-save mode does not work.
